The greatest gift you can give yourself is a life well lived.
The greatest gift you can give your loved ones is a death well planned for.

Home: definition - NOUN - The place where one lives.
The holidays are here. Many of us will be asked: "Going home for Christmas?" "Are the kids coming for the holidays?" "Will you be staying home this year?"
This time of year creates great expectations for parties, overspending, gift giving, and gathering together in elaborate celebrations. A time of year that may be joyous and exciting for some yet creates anxiety and overwhelming sadness for others. The commercial expectations can be too much and leave us feeling anxious and pressured beyond our comfort; whether it's our bank accounts are smaller, our family or friends fewer; or our mental health more fragile.
Home for the holidays. If home is truly "the place where one lives", then home for the holidays is really being true to our heart and soul. For that is where we truly live. Home is where the heart is. Being home is finding peace and love with what is. Whether you travel to the place you grew up, or stay where you are; or participate in elaborate celebrations; I hope you are spending the holidays in a way that is true to your heart, and not the world's expectations of what should be.
This holiday season being "home" is the most important priority for me and my family. The events of this past year, Paul's illness, my mom's aging ... have all reminded us where home truly is. Home is where the heart is. We will not be caught up in elaborate gifts or overspending. The only wish on Santa's list this year is "time". Time together with our family, time with our people. Time is where we will be home for the holidays.
Wherever you find yourself this holiday season, I hope you go home to your own heart and soul. I hope you find what feeds your heart and can simply love what is. "Home" is where your heart is.
May you be blessed with all you need to travel well this holiday season.
